Summary

In recent years, major industries throughout the world have been focused on saving nonrenewable resources.  There are two main ways of accomplishing this.  One way, is to use nonrenewable resources in a more efficient way.  The other, is to simply stop using nonrenewable resources all together.  This has sparked new life into the field of power engineering. This project focuses on making a more efficient, solar assisted, electric vehicle.  Though this design is implemented for a golf cart, it can be applied to almost any other type of electric vehicle. The golf cart uses solar panels to help recharge the batteries as well as supply some power to the motor when running during optimal times. The golf cart also uses a pulse width modulation speed contoller to limit the amount of current and power going to the motor. This will allow the batteries to last much longer. The golf cart allows the driver to implement different modes of operation to satisfiy the current needs of the driver.
