Group 6 Medlock

Medlock

Our project is an automated pill dispenser and aims to combat opioid addiction. The MEDLOCK regulates pill disbursal so that pills aren’t being taken in an unintended amount. The consumer would people who have been prescribed medication such as opioids or the elderly. The way it works is with a timer programmed into a microprocessor within the MEDLOCK casing, when the timer hits the specified time between dosages then the pill will be available, and the user is notified (Visually and Audibly). Then the consumer presses a button to dispense the pill and the process is repeated. It is better than what is available due to the price mixed with the security assets and notification system. Application wise ideally it would ultimately replace prescription pill bottles, at least for highly addictive substances. Alternatively, it could also be used for people who just need help remembering when to take their pills, such as the elderly.
