Smart Power Strip

An IoT power strip device that is controlled and interfaced with via mobile application.

What group 20 has designed and created is an IoT power strip device. This power strip has four outlet headers and 2 USB charging ports. It connects to a homes Wi-Fi network by the means of a WPS pairing button, and is further paired with a smart strip connect mobile application on a users mobile device. Within the application a user may turn any individual outlet on or off. The objective of this is to eliminate any "phantom" current draw when a connected device is desired to be off. Each outlet may also be placed on a timer, so that they may turn on or off at a specified time of day. Lastly each outlet is power monitored by ACS712 current sensors, used to calculate out the kWh usage of devices connected to the smart strip.
