About the Project
Chess is a great way to spend time with friends and family, but like all new games, a beginner must learn from reading from a manual or watching online videos to tediously study a set of rules. Our group is creating a chess board to teach these beginners the basic rules of chess, and introduce them to basic chess theory. Using a photoelectric piece detection system, this responsive board displays using an LED array to display user possible moves, prevent illegal moves, and even guide the user through setting the board up when beginning a new game. This project has the opportunity to make Chess, America's most popular board game, more accessible than it ever has been.
