Hermes is developed with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) simulator integrated with a Battery Management System (BMS) to model and analyze the performance of battery cells under varying conditions. The simulation generates an output of events such as overheating and thermal runaway, reflecting real-world scenarios including edge cases such as weather fluctuations and random errors. The edge-based Data Acquisition System (eDAQ) collects and processes this data using a distributed grid of development boards, ensuring data integrity and fault tolerance. Processed data, including metrics like overcharge, over-discharge, and thermal runaway, is transmitted to a cloud environment for analysis. This approach aims to enhance the reliability and efficiency of BESS by providing detailed insights into cell behavior and system anomalies.
Erica Joseph is a student at the University of Central Florida studying Computer Engineering with the intent to graduate May of 2025. Following graduation, she plans to pursue a career related to systems and controls.

Mariam Rabadi is a senior at the Univeristy of Central Florida. She is expected to graduate in May of 2025 with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Mariam plans to work full time in the field of Electrical or Computer Engineering after graduation and pursue a master's degree in Electrical Engineering part time.
Gerson Valladares is currently a senior at the University of Central Florida and will be graduating in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power and Renewables. Gerson plans to join Ingenuity Engineers post-graduation as an electrical engineer.
Omar Castro is a student at the University of Central Florida pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering. He is expecting to graduate in May of 2025. After graduation, he plans to persue a career in hardware and power.
