TSUNAMI

Hyperspectral Imaging Camera

Welcome! This page will showcase our senior design project. Here we'll showcase our design, documentation, and any other information relating to our project. TSUNAMI is a senior design project at the University of Central Florida serving as a hyperspectral imager for ecological systems. Different molecules in plants and soils have different absorption spectra, leading to different visible colors. However, the human eye as well as standard camera sensors can only resolve three color channels: red, green, and blue. This leads to various mixtures of molecules looking the same to the eye but truly containing important unresolved spectral data. A hyperspectral camera can resolve this data by diffracting an incoming slit of light and scanning across a scene, creating a set of 2D images with each at a specific wavelength, turning the three color channels of the eye and standard cameras in hundreds of channels.

The group members are Emilio Armas (EE & PSE), Jacob Silver (PSE), and Xander Kin (EE).
