Project Description

P.U.T.T.I. is a portable senior design prototype built to detect nearby thrown objects and target them in real time. The system combines radar sensing, computer vision, and a pan-tilt aiming platform to identify a target, track its movement, and respond quickly. For this project, a low-power laser is used only as a visual stand-in for interception so the system can be tested safely during demonstrations.

The main goal of the project is to show that a compact device without detachable objects can recognize an incoming object, estimate where it is moving, and coordinate multiple hardware subsystems fast enough to react. The project is intended to demonstrate the feasibility of a portable interception system and explore the challenges of integrating radar, vision, and mechanical aiming in a compact form factor.
