Project Description
Blocks of Code is an interactive, hands-on educational platform that uses 3D-printed magnetic programming blocks to teach fundamental coding concepts through play. Each block contains a low-cost microcontroller and performs a specific function such as inputs (buttons, microphone, motion), control flow (if/then, loops, delays), or outputs (LEDs, sound, vibration) that can be combined in sequence to form simple programs. The blocks physically snap together with magnetic connectors that share power and data lines, enabling the system to support configurations of 25 or more blocks. A central "Brain" block coordinates execution, while a companion app mirrors the arrangement in real time and visualizes the program as a disco-party experience with synchronized music and lights. By blending tangible coding with digital feedback, Blocks of Code provides an inclusive, multisensory learning environment that makes programming accessible and engaging for children of all abilities.
