High-Performance Variable Frequency Drive

Project Summary

Inspired by Tesla, the High-Performance Variable Frequency Drive is a conroller for a three-phase induction motor. The controller mainuplates the speed of the motor using three pairs of IGBTs connected to a DC bus. The switching behavior of each IGBT is determined using a pulse-width modulated (PWM) signal generated from a microcontroller. The DC bus is realized by rectifing the AC signal recieved from a standard three-prong outlet using two pairs of rectifies.
