Ivan Alvarez is a senior Electrical and Computer Engineering student with a Minor in Secure Networking and Computing from the University of Central Florida. Since 2008, he has been working as an Information Technology Technician for Esperanza Mental Behavioral Health Clinic in Orlando, Florida, where he is now the head of the Technical Department.
Matthew Hoover is a senior Computer Engineering student from the University of Central Florida. Currently, he is working as a Software Engineer at Riptide Software in Orlando, Florida.
Sakeenah Khan is a senior Electrical Engineering student from the University of Central Florida. She is a Burnett Honors College student, and is the vice president of Eta Kappa Nu, the honor society of IEEE. She conducted research on GaN power devices as an undergraduate student. Upon graduating, she will begin working at Texas Instruments in Tucson, Arizona.
Gustavo Morales Burbano is a senior Electrical Engineering student from the University of Central Florida. He has an Avionics Technician certificate from UCF Continuing Education. He started his major at Escuela Superior Politecnica del Litoral in Ecuador. He will join Naval Air Systems Command in Maryland as an electrical engineer upon graduation.
A smart medicine dispenser that dispenses medicine on fixed-schedule basis; for individual or family use.
The main goal of this project is to accurately schedule users' prescriptions, dispense their medication at the proper time, and track their adherence. The Medispencer is designed and implemented for use in the household, by any number of patients. The device securely contains medicine and requires fingerprint identification. The Medispencer is an excellent method to aid patients and improve medication compliance, as it keeps medicine organized and scheduled, and alerts the patient when it is medicine time. This type of support is especially helpful for people with chronic health issues, complicated medication regimens, or lapses in memory. Unique features of the Medispencer include fingerprint identification for multiple users, medicine scheduling and record-keeping, and automatic sorting, at a lower cost than other devices on the market.
