Introduction to QwikCam
QwikCam is a camera system designed for recording sport that are played outdoors. This system was sponsored by QwikCut to replace their existing system. The main goals were to have only one wire running up the tripod to the camera, have the camera and power system water resistant, have the battery system last atleast 12 hours, and have fast enough Pan, tilt, and zoom movements to keep up with the sport. To meet these requirements a standard PTZ security camera was used to allow for Power over Ethernet to allow for the one wire solution. A custom battery and software solution was developed to meet the other features requested.
