This senior design project focuses on developing a wireless communication system that uses a laser over free space to transmit binary-coded messages. The goal is to demonstrate a proof-of-concept for terrestrial free-space communications and communications from space through optical means.
The idea draws on historical advancements in communication, starting with the electric and wireless telegraph, and later, the introduction of lasers and fiber optics. These technologies transformed long-distance communication, and our project aims to develop a long-distance communications system based on lasers.
