Fire Detection and Monitoring for Emergency Situations
The FLAMES (Fire Detection and Monitoring for Emergency Situations) project aims to deliver an innovative solution for early fire detection in small, high-risk environments such as labs and CNC machines; settings where traditional detectors may be triggered by harmless sparks. Utilizing advanced optical sensors and FPGA-based flag synchronization, our system enables real-time fire monitoring and alerting to enhance detection accuracy and improve safety during emergencies.
Computer Engineering Lauren is an undergraduate Computer Engineering student specializing in VLSI with a minor in mathematics. After graduation, she is set to pursue a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University. Electrical Engineering Ronex is an undergraduate Electrical Engineering student specializing in power systems. After graduation, he plans to pursue his Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering and work in the industry focusing on electrical design. Optical Engineering Neil is an undergraduate Optical Engineering student specializing in optical design. After graduation, he is set to join L3Harris in Boston as an Optical Design Engineer for L3's Space Imaging Division.
