The Tracking Recyclables Automated Sorting Hand (T.R.A.S.H.) project aims to create a compact, cost-effective robotic system for identifying and sorting recyclable materials. Using computer vision, optics, and machine learning, the system will detect aluminum cans, determine their position, and use a robotic arm to sort them efficiently. Unlike existing large and expensive solutions, T.R.A.S.H. is designed to be self-contained, energy-efficient, and scalable, making automated recycling accessible for small waste management operations. Future enhancements include improved detection accuracy, expanded sorting capabilities, and mobile app integration for monitoring and control.
