SMARTNAV CANE

A Sensor-Integrated Mobility Aid for Enhanced Navigation

Welcome to our Senior Design Project Website

In today's modern world, technology plays a large role in many people's lives. We have smartphones that allow us instantaneous access to the internet, self-driving cars that navigate the roads with precision, and AI models that quickly provide solutions to any prompt you could come up with. Despite these advancements, mobility tools for the visually impaired such as white canes have seen little improvement.

Traditional walking canes, while effective, have limitations, especially in busy urban environments or when encountering obstacles out of reach. This personal connection to the issue fuels our drive to design the SmartNav Cane.

Our goal for SmartNav is to integrate cutting-edge technology with innovative engineering principles to create an immersive product that meets industry standards. We plan to develop a walking cane that enhances mobility, safety, and independence by incorporating features such as obstacle detection sensors and GPS navigation, all while providing real-time feedback. Additionally, the cane will include rechargeable batteries for convenience and an eco-friendly approach.

Ultimately, these improvements to the traditional walking cane will significantly enhance the quality of life for individuals facing visual challenges, offering them a reliable tool for everyday navigation.
