Caring for a newborn requires immense dedication, especially when it comes to providing breast milk, which involves frequent pumping and detailed labeling of each serving. The process can be tedious, as mothers must track vital information like time, volume, and allergens while managing their milk supply to prevent waste or expiration. To solve this, our senior design project, PUMPED, simplifies labeling by using a portable device to weigh the milk, convert it to fluid ounces, and print a detailed label, paired with a mobile app that tracks servings and sends reminders. This solution addresses the challenges of ensuring properly labeled milk for both personal use and donation, ultimately supporting newborns' needs. Inspired by the real-life experiences of our sponsors, we aim to make this process more efficient and reduce unnecessary waste.
