MOIST

Mesh-Operated Irrigation Sensor Technology

Our project is called MOIST (Mesh-Operated Irrigation Sensor Technology). It's purpose is to reduce the amount of water and energy consumption that current methods of irrigation for open areas of grass, such as sprinklers, produce. A mesh network of nodes containing moisture and humidity sensors is placed throughout a field. These nodes then send alerts to a central hub when specific sections of the grass need to be watered. As a result, users of this system would be able to only water sections of grass that are low in moisture and refrain from watering grass once the desired moisture readings are obtained.
