Our group wanted to provide a fool-proof & fun gardening experience that can produce fresh fruit and vegetables, regardless of environment!

Project Goals

The SmartLeaf unit will provide a nurturing & sustainable environment for plant growth, have environmental controls that will be triggered by sensor data, and be monitored remotely through our web application

JonathanG
Jonathan Gilbert

Jonathan Gilbert, majoring in Computer Engineering at the University of Central Florida, developed the embedded software, web application communication, and assisted in designing the PCB’s for SmartLeaf. He has worked the past two years at nScrypt and is currently writing computer vision software for manufacturing 3D printed circuits. He previously worked at Siemens as an IT intern and has done undergraduate research for the university as part of the LEARN and SURF programs. His future includes interning at Walt Disney World as an IoT Hardware intern, then returning to UCF to pursue a master's in Computer Engineering.

Alex Lam

Alex Lam is a Computer and Electrical Double Major at the University of Central Florida. He is currently interning at Lockheed Martin as a test engineer and intends to work at the Newport Naval Undersea Warfare Center as a full-time employee following graduation.

Dany Mazboudi

Dany Mazboudi is currently a senior graduating from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He has experience from working an undergraduate research position at UCF. After graduation he plans on pursuing a full-time position in the Electrical Engineering profession.

Megan Morris

Megan is an electrical engineering student who gained experience at Disney design & engineering, Texas Instruments, and TLC engineering solutions during her time at UCF. Following graduation she will start her new role as a field applications engineer for Texas Instruments in Santa Clara, California.
