SunShade - App controled solar powered blind system

Our Project

The SunShade is an internet-of-things home appliance designed for daily use, in order to create a comfortable and cost-efficient home environment. Rising energy costs are the primary issue that the SunShade system hopes to alleviate to some degree. SunShade is a cordless, solar-powered window blinds system, controlled either with the manual control pad, Alexa personal voice assistant, or the mobile application. It is capable of tilting shades, lifting or lowering blinds, or lifting or lowering a diffuser shade for enhanced environmental control, as well as numerous other technical features. It works by manipulating the existing corded blinds mechanism with servos, and is controlled by a microcontroller, with feedback from various light, temperature, and humidity sensors. The goal of the project is to provide a green-energy focused home appliance, designed for consumers that are hoping to save money on monthly bills, save energy, assist in home-gardening, or simply to create a comfortable automated home environment.
