Project Vision

The Pothole Detection and Tracking System is an affordable, vehicle-mounted solution designed to automatically identify and log road hazards in real time. Using a structured infrared laser line projected onto the road, paired with a filtered camera, the system detects distortions that indicate potholes or surface anomalies. This data is analyzed by a microcontroller onboard the vehicle and transmitted via Bluetooth to a smartphone app, which tags the pothole's GPS location and stores it in the cloud. Unlike traditional manual surveys or high-cost LiDAR systems, this solution is cost-effective, easy to install, and platform-independent making it ideal for municipalities and contractors seeking a scalable method to improve road safety and maintenance response times.
