SkinLumina is a portable, multispectral imaging device developed to improve the accuracy and inclusivity of dermatological diagnostics across diverse skin tones. Unlike conventional skin imaging systems, SkinLumina dynamically adapts its lighting and scanning parameters based on the user's skin tone, using a combination of visible and near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths.
The system captures both surface and subsurface skin features to detect abnormalities like melanoma, scars, and discoloration that might otherwise be overlooked on darker complexions. By integrating advanced optical components, real-time image processing, and a portable form factor, SkinLumina aims to provide clinicians with a more equitable, adaptable, and cost-effective tool for skin analysis.
