Through thoughtful and generous donations from industry partners and alumni, the UCF Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is able to award scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students annually. These scholarships ease the financial burden for our students and make a college education more accessible and affordable for students. Scholarships are awarded for a variety of reasons including academic achievements, campus activities, community involvement and financial need.

Department Scholarships

The AMD Graduate Research Fellowship is sponsored by Advanced Micro Devices Inc. with the objective of promoting advanced research and education in generative artificial intelligence for use in the design of computer architecture, high-performance computing, and very large scale integrated (VLSI) circuits and systems.

Students enrolled in a master’s program are eligible for 20 hours of work per week during the fall and spring semesters at a rate of $26 per hour. Students enrolled in a doctoral program will receive full tuition coverage in addition to a sizable stipend for one year.

Evaluation Process

  • Applicants must be a current or incoming graduate student pursuing a degree in computer engineering.
  • Doctoral applicants should have identified a faculty advisor from the UCF Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
  • Master’s applicants should have identified a thesis advisor from the UCF Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Applicants must provide:

  • A curriculum vitae (CV)
  • A short essay describing your short-term and long-term career goals.
  • A support letter from your advisor expressing interest in advising the applicant for their thesis. Must include the potential project topic.

The Graduate Studies Scholarship is funded by the UCF Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering with the goal of supporting committed undergraduate students who want to pursue a graduate degree.

The ideal applicant for this scholarship is a senior undergraduate student who is committed to pursuing graduate studies at UCF. Specific duties and expected outcomes will be outlined by the faculty member with whom the student will work.

Recipients of this scholarship will receive $15,000 for one year as an hourly hire.

  • Must have declared the electrical engineering or computer engineering major
  • Must be willing to pursue graduate studies at UCF
  • Must have a cumulative UCF GPA of 3.3 or higher
  • Must be a senior or have less than four semesters remaining before graduation
  • Must be enrolled at UCF for the fall semester and enrolled the subsequent spring semester to maintain scholarship eligibility

Applicants must provide:

  • A personal statement that outlines:
    • Your commitment to UCF: Articulate why UCF is your preferred choice for graduate studies, highlighting relevant course interests, intentions to stay in the Orlando area and faculty members of interest related to your field of specialization.
    • Academic plan: Provide an outline of the intended academic journey throughout the program, including planned courses, research activities and any aspirations for teaching or research assistantships.
    • Career goals: Concisely describe post-graduation career ambitions and explain how a UCF education will contribute to achieving these objectives.
  • One letter of recommendation from the ECE faculty member with whom you plan to work

As an Intel undergraduate scholar, you will assist the UCF staff with the operation and maintenance of the cleanroom equipment during the fall and spring semesters. You should have a desire to work in the semiconductor manufacturing industry after graduation and the availability for a summer internship with Intel. 

Intel undergraduate scholars will work in the cleanroom facilities for 20 hours a week at a rate of $20 per hour.

As a Lockheed Martin undergraduate scholar, you work under the supervision of UCF electrical and computer engineering faculty in the areas of testing and validation, troubleshooting and diagnostics, software and tools, firmware and embedded systems and will be given the opportunity to discuss internship possibilities with Lockheed Martin for the summer semester.

Lockheed Martin undergraduate scholars will work for 20 hours a week at a rate of $20 per hour.

As a Northrop Grumman undergraduate scholar, you work under the supervision of UCF electrical and computer engineering faculty in the areas of digital design and very large scale integrated (VSLI) circuits and systems. You will be given the opportunity to interact with Northrop Grumman engineers and managers.

Northrop Grumman undergraduate scholars will work for 20 hours a week at a rate of $20 per hour.

As a Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company scholar, you will assist the UCF staff with the operation and maintenance of the TSMC cleanroom equipment during the fall and spring semesters. You should have a desire to work in the semiconductor manufacturing industry after graduation and the availability for a summer internship with TSMC.

TSMC scholars will work for 20 hours a week at a rate of $20 per hour and will receive a graduate assistantship during the spring semester.

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering or materials science and engineering
  • Undergraduates must have completed at least 45 credit hours
  • A cumulative UCF GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • An expected graduation date of Fall 2026 or later
  • Enrollment at UCF for the fall semester and the subsequent spring semester to maintain scholarship eligibility.
  • Available to work 20 hours per week

Pre-selected candidates will go through an interview process with TSMC as an intern candidate. Students who are offered a summer internship and accept it will concurrently be selected as a TSMC Scholar. TSMC interns also have the opportunity to receive an advanced offer to join TSMC after graduation based on their performance and experience during their internship and at UCF.

As a Texas Instruments undergraduate scholar, you will assist the UCF staff with the operation and maintenance of the  cleanroom equipment during the fall and spring semesters. You should have a desire to work in the semiconductor manufacturing industry after graduation and the availability for a summer internship with Texas Instruments.

Texas Instruments undergraduate scholars will work for 20 hours a week at a rate of $20 per hour and will receive a graduate assistantship during the spring semester.

College Scholarships

The College of Engineering and Computer Science offers various scholarships to support undergraduate and graduate students. CECS students are encouraged to apply for scholarships using A2O: Access to Opportunities, a system that gives you access to scholarships funded by donors specifically for students studying areas related to your major. Using this site, you can also gain access to hundreds of scholarships open to all majors across campus and external scholarships that have been validated by the Office of Student Financial Assistance. You will need to complete A2O’s application once a year to automatically match with scholarships for which you qualify. Be sure to check the system periodically as scholarships may be added throughout the year.
