Building a Workforce
Position yourself for a career in semiconductor manufacturing with the Semiconductor Engineering and Manufacturing Instruction (SEMI) Certificate from UCF. Students with a background in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science and engineering or industrial engineering can gain entry-level knowledge of the semiconductor manufacturing industry, including the fundamental science and engineering concepts behind the fabrication of semiconductor devices.
CURRICULUM AND PROGRAM ADMISSIONS
The SEMI Certificate requires 12 credit hours, including nine hours of core courses and three credit hours of electives.
There are no additional requirements for admission into the program beyond admission to UCF.
Please note that this program is not open to students majoring in computer science, computer engineering or information technology.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION
While licensure or certification may be available in this field of study, our program does not directly lead to such licensure or certification upon graduation. The professional preparation you receive in our program meets the educational requirements for licensure as a professional engineer and may still assist you in such pursuits; however, the licensing authority and requirements for professional engineers falls under the jurisdiction of the licensing board for the state, territory, or foreign entity in which engineer practices.
If you intend to pursue such credentialing in your state or elsewhere, we strongly advise you to contact the applicable state credentialing authority to familiarize yourself with its specific requirements.
