Congratulations to Dr. Fan Yao
September 3, 2020
Assistant Professor Fan Yao has recently received two research grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The first awarded project involving Fan Yao, Rickard Ewetz and Amro Awad (https://nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=2008339), entitled “Towards Secure-By-Design Integration of Emerging Non-Volatile Memory in Future System”, aims to investigate side-channel vulnerabilities and explore novel defensive approaches for future systems integrated with Non-Volatile Memories;
The second awarded project (https://nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=2019536), entitled “Understanding and Taming Deterministic Model Bit Flip Attacks in Deep Neural Networks”, aims to investigate hardware-based data tampering threats to deep learning systems and explore algorithm/architecture level defensive approaches to promote the robustness for future ML-enabled systems. This project is collaborative with Arizona State University (ASU), and UCF is the lead institution.
