Congratulations to Dr. Murat Yuksel

August 1, 2021

Dr. Yuksel has received an NSF award from the Division of Computer and Network Systems (CNS) to investigate techniques to realize 3D mesh networks composed of hybrid radio and optical wireless links for the purpose of wireless access provisioning under challenged infrastructure. The effort is likely to have notable impact on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) emerging applications expecting high speed wireless communications among ground devices such as emergency response, public safety, smart and connected communities, and virtual/augmented reality. More details can be found here: https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=2115215

In another NSF award from the CNS Division, Dr. Yuksel will collaborate with researchers from Georgia State University to explore and plan a research testbed for visible light communication (VLC). The project will develop a plan for designing a remotely accessible indoor VLC testbed composed of a large array of static and/or mobile VLC nodes. VLC is an emerging technology with potential to renovate indoor wireless access by augmenting optical wireless downloads on the existing Wi-Fi links.
