Congratulations to Drs. Brian Kim and Mingjie Lin
October 19, 2021
Dr. Kim and Dr. Lin has received a Defense University Research Instrumentation Project (DURIP) award from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) to investigate a new bio-security and bio-computing paradigm using neurotransmitter secretions from living cells. This research leverages how electroactive neurotransmitter diffuses and is released from single cells as well as in brain slices and achieves universal computation through the powerful framework of hierarchical and stochastic-based deep learning. This DURIP project is a 1-year project and Dr. Kim has received $301k to support this effort.
