Award Description

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking undergraduate and graduate student applicants to assist the UCF cleanroom staff during the Fall and Spring semesters in the operation and maintenance of equipment as a Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) Scholar. Applicants should have a strong interest in pursuing careers in the semiconductor manufacturing industry and will be given an opportunity to participate in the 2026 Summer Internship with TSMC.

TSMC Undergraduate Scholars will be paid $20/hour for up to 20 hours per week (during the fall and spring semesters) and the graduate students will receive a Graduate Assistantship contract during the spring semester while working in one of UCF’s cleanroom facilities.

Eligibility
  • Declared undergraduate or graduate Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Material Science Engineering majors.
  • Completion of at least 45 credit hours (for undergraduate students).
  • Cumulative UCF GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Expected graduation date of Fall 2026 or later.
  • Enrollment at UCF for the Fall 2025 semester and the subsequent Spring 2026 semester to maintain scholarship eligibility.
  • Available to work 20 hours per week.

Please note that applicant eligibility will be verified by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering before any award can be made.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide:

  1. Current Resume
  2. A short essay describing your career goals. The essay should be 300 to 500 words and should also include any academic and non-academic accomplishments, personal characteristics, or experiences that make them uniquely worthy of this scholarship consideration.

APPLICATIONS FOR FALL 2026

Interested students are encouraged to submit all required documents as ONE (1) combined PDF file to ecescholarships@ucf.edu with “TSMC” in the subject line. This means your application submission email should have one (1) PDF attachment. Applications for Fall 2026 must be submitted by Monday, October 20th, 2025.

Scholar Selection Process

Candidates pre-selected will go through an interview/selection process with TSMC Arizona as a 2026 Summer Intern candidate. Students selected and offered a summer internship who accept the offer,  will concurrently be selected as a TSMC Scholar. TSMC Summer Intern(s) will also have an opportunity to receive an advanced offer to join TSMC post-graduation based on their performance and experience during their internship and time as a Scholar at UCF.

Additional Scholarship Opportunities

The College of Engineering and Computer Science offers various scholarships to support undergraduate and graduate students. CECS students are encouraged to apply for scholarships using A2O: Access to Opportunities, a system that gives you access to scholarships funded by donors specifically for students studying areas related to your major. Using this site, you can also gain access to hundreds of scholarships open to all majors across campus and external scholarships that have been validated by the Office of Student Financial Assistance. You will need to complete A2O’s application once a year to automatically match with scholarships for which you qualify. Be sure to check the system periodically as scholarships may be added throughout the year.
