Award Description

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking undergraduate student applicants who will be assisting the UCF cleanroom staff for the Fall and Spring semesters in operation and maintenance of the equipment as a “Texas Instruments (TI) Undergraduate Scholar”. The applicant is expected to have a desire to work in the semiconductor manufacturing industry and will be given an opportunity to do an internship with TI over the Summer semester.

TI is a global semiconductor pioneer in designing, manufacturing, testing and selling analog and embedded processing chips. TI Undergraduate Scholars will be paid $20/hour for up to 20 hours/week (during the fall and spring semesters) to work in one of the UCF cleanroom facilities.

Eligibility
  • Declared undergraduate Electrical Engineering major.
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours.
  • Cumulative UCF GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Expected graduation date of Fall 2025 or later (Fall 2025, Spring 2026, or Summer 2026 preferred).
  • Enrolled at UCF for the upcoming Fall 2024 semester and enrolled the subsequent Spring 2025 semester to maintain fellowship eligibility.
  • Available to work 20 hours per week.

Please note that applicant eligibility will be verified by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering before any award can be made.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide:

  1. Current Resume
  2. A short essay describing your career goals. The essay should be 300 to 500 words and should also include any academic and non-academic accomplishments, personal characteristics, or experiences that make them uniquely worthy of this scholarship consideration.

Interested students are encouraged to submit all required documents as one PDF file to ecescholarships@ucf.edu with “Texas Instrument Scholarship Application” in the subject line. Applications for Fall 2024 must be submitted by 5:00 PM ET on July 26, 2024.

Evaluation Process

Applications will be reviewed and evaluated by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Incomplete and non-qualifying applications will not be considered. All applicants will be notified via email if they are awarded a scholarship or not.

Additional Scholarship Opportunities

The College of Engineering and Computer Science offers various scholarships to support undergraduate and graduate students. CECS students are encouraged to apply for scholarships using A2O: Access to Opportunities, a system that gives you access to scholarships funded by donors specifically for students studying areas related to your major. Using this site, you can also gain access to hundreds of scholarships open to all majors across campus and external scholarships that have been validated by the Office of Student Financial Assistance. You will need to complete A2O’s application once a year to automatically match with scholarships for which you qualify. Be sure to check the system periodically as scholarships may be added throughout the year.
